I had one but found that grocery bags worked better and cost less.

I use a Diaper Champ nad really like it in the kids room, which is upstairs. It keeps the dog out of diapers and really seems to keep odor out of the room. I would look at Goodwill first, as I usually see them there for less than $5. Diaper Genie refill costs blow my mind!

I use to have one, didnt use it for very long. Just use the regular garbage for pee diapers and use those plastic bags you get from the grocery store to put the poop diapers in and immediately through them in the outside garbage. This beats throwing away a whole string of smelly diapers out of the diaper genie...now only if the diaper genie would make the diapers dissappear when throwing them away...

I hate the idea of any kind of diaper pail. Why in the world do you want to store poop in your babies room? I started keeping all of the plastic bags we got from grocery stores, Walmart, etc...long before DD arrived and I still keep them. I store about 50 at a time in her closet. Every morning I slip 4 or 5 of them on the handle of her hamper which is right next to her changing table. Everytime I change her, the diaper goes into the plastic bag, I tie it up and take it out to the garage. It is such a simple and FREE idea. In addition to hating the idea of storing poop , I hated the idea of paying for additional garbage bags.

Sounds like I am in the minority here. I used to care for two boys in their home and used a genie there.

It worked great and never had a smell to it even when it was full.At the time the oldest was about four years old so it had been used for a while.

We were given a genie for a shower present this winter, but still haven't used it yet. Right now we just use a plastic bag on the door handle and take it out to the dumpster whenever it gets full or smelly.

Noah is starting to eat solids though so I am thinking we will start putting the poopy ones in the genie soon. I hate the though of constantly buying refills, but I have also heard that you can use regular plastic bags with it. It was posted somewhere, so I will need to go back and find it sometime soon before we use all of the refills we got from the baby shower.

I have a Diaper Champ and love it. You just use a regualr trash bag in it. I have never noticed any odor, although I do empty iy at least every other day. Also, I try to clean it with baking sode & water every once in awhile.

I got one with my first ds and loved it, we used it all the time. I saved it to use with ds #2, who is now 13mo, and bought the refills and have never used it. It's just such a pain now. I buy a box of 100 baby powder scented diaper bags at the Dollar Store and just throw the bad diapers in there and tie it up and put it right in the regular garbage can. You wouldn't even know it's in there as you can't smell it. I love those little bags, I keep a few in the diaper bag to use if we're out and I don't want to stink up the whole bathroom with a smelly diaper.

Used one with my DD, but with baby on the way, we are going to just use the plastic grocery bags and/or the plastic bags the newspapers come in. I have my parents have been saving them for me also. They work just as well and are much cheaper.

I loved my diaper genie...now this was like 10 years ago but it was great! No odors, easy to use, I wiped it out every time I used it and let it air dry - no smells, nothing. My sister hated the diaper genie and got the diaper champ but to tell you the truth, her nursery ALWAYS smells like dirty diapers, so I don't think it's working all that well! LOL!
