I had someone call me saying they were calling for Visa or Mastercard to lower my interest rate. The man said he was from Card Member Services. I asked what company he was from. Again for Visa or Mastercard. I asked again like Capital One, Bank One, Chase, he said he was calling for all those associated with Visa or Mastercard.

I told him we are on the Oklahoma No Call List. Which is a list you can sign up on the Governors web site that you DO NOT accept calls from solicitors. They can be sued. He said he was not a solicitor.

YA RIGHT~~~

If you can't tell me who I have an account with, or what company you are calling from something is wrong.

I finally just hung up.

Does this sound fishy to you too?????????????????????????????????????

It does sound bad to me. I have never had anyone call me to lower my rate on any cc. But all the sudden I can't remember who they say to call to report when someone is trying something fraudelent. KWIM the tv stations always report it and ask for anyone that it has happened to to call ________ I swear its on the tip of my tongue!
If no one posts and lets you know the agency to call then I would call your favorite tv station tomorrow and tell them about it! You might save someone else the same headache you just saved yourself IMO

Yes, I've gotten two. One awhile back then one today. The one today I just hung up on. I was taking a nap and was not feeling good. The one awhile back I hung on the line to see if it was my regular credit card or what. A guy came on the line and I asked who he was from. I forget what he said. I said I wasn't interested anyway as my interest rate wasn't a problem but was just wondering what the deal was with the call.

He wanted to know what my interest rate was and I told him zero (which it's not LOL). I said thanks, but no thanks. I have stuff to do *click*

If you have been doing good about paying your credit cards, then the company will usually lower your interest rate without calling you. Mine always just appears on the next statement.

If you want to try to lower your interest rate, then call them directly and request it be lowered.

I have one credit card that if I were to send a check (I pay online) I would make it out to cardmember services. It is the Disney Visa card. He could have been legit, but it's always better to be safe and call the company directly if you need something regarding your account.

Yes it does sound fishy. Its good you hung up. You figure if they are really calling from the legitimate company....they should have all your information and you don't and never give it to them.

Sounds strange. I always tell them if I want something, I will call them.

That does sound weird. I never give any personal info out. We have had someone call because we missed a payment on one of our cc's but I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving my info out over the phone to pay for it and that I would just like to call customer service myself to pay for it. He was very friendly and said that was fine. I think he really worked for that particular cc company but I still just didn't feel comfortable giving out my info.

I always ask them what credit card number they have on file for me...if they can't give me a number, it's a phish.

Once I had a guy call saying he was from Phoeniz, AZ; it was 8 a.m. in DC which means 5 a.m. in Phoenix--I gave him a very large piece of my mind...
