We are looking to get a new car. My dh drives a 95 extended bed pickup over 60 miles everyday and it's about had it. Does anyone know anything about the mercury milan? It looks really nice and they said it gets good gas milage. Any thoughts or cautions?

My only bit of advice is don't buy new. We bought a new Xetrra in 05 and have regretted it ever since. We paid too much and financed. Last year we were going to trade it in and get a cheaper car, but we would have lost over 10,000. So we're going to drive it into the ground!

You might also check consumer reports......

i agree! dont by new - buy a year or two old if you want a "new" car.

i wouldnt buy anything without checking consumer reports and carfax...it saves the hassle of being ripped off or buying a problem car.

Well I'll have to be the one to buck the trend. I would defintely vote for new. You have a warranty, a dealership to go to if you have questions, you know that no one else has done something stupid to the car, if you maintain it it is likely to cost you less and last longer. I am currently driving a used car because we bought it a week after buying dh a brand new truck and the idea of two brand new cars in less than 2 weeks scared the crap out of me.

Other than that my family has always bought new cars and never regretted it. This was the first time dh had EVER bought a new car and his entire family has always bought used. I have definitley converted him to my side. He wanted to get a used truck but I held tight and we bought new and he loves it. There are no little imperfections you didn't notice at first, there is a dealership and warranty to stand behind it, we know no one has ever done anything stupid to it, we are able to maintain maintenance records and will always know the history of the vehicle.

Now I know new is not for everyone and for heavens sake look at your financial situation first. But I know that I am much happier with a new car and will drive them until the wheels fall off so its a good enough investment to me.

BTW I don't know anything about the Milan, but do your research and test drive one before you get too far incase you don't like the way it drives.
