I am a recovering addict from shopping at Baby Gap. I used to buy there every month and then I woke up and said, wow my kids are just staining these clothes within a week! But, from time to time i will pick up a peice. I try to stick to Target and Old Navy now.

I shopped there about 6 yrs ago when my daughter was a tween--it was the ONLY place that had her size back then. JCPennys and Sears had either kids clothes or teenager clothes, so yeah, I bought jeans for $40 (which I wouldn't spend on MY jeans).

We are a blessed with a huge outlet mall "technically" within walking distance LOL
They have Gap, Gymboree, Guess, and Children's Place outlets. So much of my kids clothes come from there. I buy the stuff that goes to a % off the clearance price, especially at the Gap. Now they have a whole room of clearance at Gap and I get them shirts for 1.99, jeans for 4.99, etc. I usually get better prices for them at these stores than I can get at Walmart, and comparable to Target markowns. RARELY do my kids get something more than $10. That said, I also don't buy them too much b/c we have uniforms at school and their relatives mostly give clothes for bdays, holidays, etc.

My favorite is that we have a stride rite and timberland outlet too, so I can their shoes for about 10 -15 a pair, which is a blessing b/c ds1 has a heavy gait and wears down his shoes about every 2 months.

I wouldn't be able to buy at these stores if they weren't the outlets.

I used to shop Gymboree clearance racks when we had a store near by. Now I buy kids clothes at Goodwill, consignment, or Target/Walmart. I have found plenty of name brand clothes from the Gap at Goodwill.

I buy my ds's pants at Gap Kids. I try to wait until we go to the outlets tho. He's about a size 9/12 months around the waist - but needs at least an 18 mo. (almost 24 mo.) in length - so we buy the adjustable waist jeans - and I have to pull them in about 4 button holes on eah side.

I do shop at Gap Kids Outlet because their clearance prices are awesome. And I do think they're quality is great. I have 2 DD's, 6 & 3 and a neice who is 18mnths. All the clothes I bought from Gap for my oldest when she was in the Toddler size haves now been passed down to the younger two. We all know how hard toddlers can be on clothes so this just reaffirms the quality of the clothes for me! I've also found Carters and Osh Kosh to be great quality, but only at outlet clearance prices.

I do have a limit for certain pieces of clothing and I break it down like this:

any trendy clothing - no more than $10 for pants and no more than $5 for shirts
classic-styles clothing- pants, no more than $15 shirts and sweaters, no more than $10.

Most of the trendy clothes will be donated after they outgrown because they will be out of style for the younger two. The classic type clothes ie non-decorated jeans, polos, plain tshirts, jackets, holiday clothes etc can handle, style wise, more wear.

I LOVE Gap, but shop it only at a local children's consignment store. Really my favorite is hand-me-downs! Free! I figure in the years to come my kids will eventually care what they wear, but I'll save my hard earned money for those days versus when they are so little and could care less.

I am embarrassed to admit that this past fall I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at Gymboree for my girls. That will not be happening anymore.
