I now buy my older kiddo clothes at The Children's Place or Gymboree ... only stuff on sale and coupons. The reason by the time they are washed and dryed so many times I can re-use the items as hand-me-downs for the younger one. I found out the hard way that the cheaper clothes at Target/Wlamart would work for the older one but didn't quite make-it as a handmedown.

For me, a trip to the mall is such an event that I don't have time to visit those stores. If I did, though, the only section I browse is the clearance section.
A neighbor was recently telling me that she and her three-year-old son spent three hours at the mall trying to find a winter coat that he liked enough to wear. They finally found one at one of those expensive stores. I thought, oh my goodness. I would have bought a clearance coat at someplace like Kohls, brought it home, and said, "Looks, sweetie, I bought you a coat."

I'm with you. I've found beautiful clothes at yard sales.

I've bought a few things at Baby Gap for my kids over the years, but not much. The mall here doesn't have a Gymboree or a Baby Gap , although they do have The Children's Place. Most of my kids clothes are bought at Target, Old Navy, Kohls (my 4 year old LOVES the Tony Hawk collection ) or yard sales. I've never had a problem with the boys wearing through the Target or Old Navy clothes faster than other clothes. In fact there are a few pairs of pants that are going to be hand-me downs for my 2 year old when he fits in them .

I don't frequently shop those places, but do go through there on occasion in search of a gift or new items for dd. I have found that if I time it right I can get decent deals that are cheaper than the local Goodwill. At TCP I found a rack of clothing sizes 0 months- 5T, all for under .99. It was from a box of last years end of season merchandise that never got set out. So I grabbed a bunch of pants, jackets, blanket sleepers that my dds could use as well as some for gifts. Also with coupons, gymbucks , clearances I can often do as well at these places as Goodwill or Traget clearance.

But, it has to be really marked down before I buy. I have a really hard time paying a lot lof money for kids clothes. Especially for younger dd who crawls everywhere and gets wear marks all over the knees- no way am I spending $20 on a pait of pants for her

I buy most of my kids clothes from gymboree. But I never ever pay more than 10.00 for a shirt or 12.00 for pants or 15.00 for sweaters or hoodies. I wait for sales and use coupons and earn gymbucks and all that jazz. I bought the kids some clothes this morning online from gymboree and with shipping and taxes I bought 11 items for 120.00. The best thing about buying brand name high quality clothes is the last and last and last if you take care of them properly. In my case I have two boys so when tyler outgrows something it goes to Jackson and when Jackson is done I consign it. I end up getting more than half back what I spent on clothes in the first place. Its alot of work to keep the kids clothes very new looking but it can be done and I do it for them not for the re-sale value.

I shop at Gap, The Children's Place but never pay full price. I also had some returns from gifts for baby that didn't fit, and used the credit to pay for most of the purchases. In the first year of DS's life, I bet I didn't spend over $100. total for his clothing.

I wouldn't be caught dead shopping in places like the Gap, The Children's Place, Gymboree...you may catch me looking, but looking never hurt right? I shop walmart, target, kmart, ross, and the BabyDepot. I actually buy the majority of my dd's clothes at the BabyDepot. It's very similar to Ross, they have a bunch of BRAND NAME clothes at very discounted prices. I don't pay more than $10 for a pair of pants ( c'mon, my daughter is 8 months and wears them for maybe 2-3 months), I usually don't pay more than $6-$7 for a shirt, and you can pick up 2 and 3 piece outfits for under $15. Who in their right mind would pay $50-$60 or more for an outfit for an infant/toddler? IT'S RIDICULOUS! Ladies, the BabyDepot is in Burlington Coat Factory, usually downstairs...go check it out and stop wasting all your money in expensive stores! I drive 3 hours to go to the BabyDepot and it's well worth it, even after I spend money on gas and food for the trip! I still save a couple hundred dollars, and when I'm done with the clothes, i take them to a consignment shop, or someplace like goodwill or a women's and children's shelter.

I am partially here because of spending WAY TOO MUCH at gymboree. The quality of Gymboree is incredible, though. We have pieces of the mod zebra line that have been worn by 3 kids and still look new. Plus, I can coordinate hats, socks, shoes, hair pretties, sweaters, and, jackets, and, when my girls were in preschool-2nd grade that was a big deal to me!

I will not shop there for my babies. They have no where to go and would just wear them out.

RIght now, my oldest daughter wants Limited 2- nearly exclusively. She is an odd size- 12 1/2. So, there are few stores that have her size. I only buy stuff on BIG discounts.

A lot of the girls' clothing is from Goodwill or rummage sales, but, I still stick with these brands, as, they can get washed endlessly and still look great.

No - BUT my son does have tons of name brand clothes.
I found this great re-sale shop near my house that only takes good quality clothes.
I'm always finding clothes there from gap, gymboree etc for like 1$ or 4$. It's wonderful!
I live in st. Louis MO and the place is called Once Upon a Child!

I also LOVE old navy clothes - I do buy from the store but only when there are good sales. Their credit card reward program is awesome - you get 10$ back for every 100$ you spend. I use my old navy card to buy things from the store (or online where all the really good deals are!) but then as soon as I get home I just make an online payment for the same amount so I never have a balance but I get the 10$ back all the time!
