We are paying off the credit card and putting the rest into savings.

We do well every year, not sure how well we will do this year since dh was dissablitiy for 3 months. We are still waiting to file because we havn't gotten a statement from dissabitity yet. Ugh!

BUT we are hoping to get our bathroom redone, pay off some bills, and SAVE the rest. I've been doing th frugal thing for a few months now and its really starting to pay off, so I want to be as frugal as possible with my refund so we will have money left over by this time next year! LOL

We already got ours and heres what we did with it:

1. paid 900.00 towards cc debt
2. spent 700.00 fixing dh's car
3. paid 1000.00 towards dh's car loan (we only owe 1200.00 more now)
4. put 500.00 into savings
5. stocked up on pantry items 200.00
6. spent 200.00 for storage items and new decor for my oldest ds room
7. 50.00 on Chris Daughtry concert tickets
8. 200 on new hair cut and highlights and manicure and pedicure for me
9. 125 for new clothes for the boys
10. 60 for new cologne for hubby

We normally dont get back more than 900 but since dh was deployed for six months and all the money he made was tax free we didnt have to claim more than half of his income for 2006. We were tickled to say the least!

I am 1/2 way done with file our taxes and will not get any refund back b/c IRS will take all of it since we are owing them for 2004 Fed tax. We was very disappointed because we are planning to put in our saving to buy a first-time house and we are now working with the mortgage/realtor to see if we are qualify for 100 percent w/ no downpayment. We are crossing our fingers for the best luck and anxious to move in our own first-time home with our son! ray:

We max out on what they take out through the year because we use tax return as a savings account of sorts. That said, we are having some work done on BOTH vehicles (routine, but expensive), buying ME a computer (cause this one is about to drive me NUTS), paying off some bills, adding to our emergency fund in savings, and then putting a chunk up for our daughter's graduation gift (we think we are getting her a laptop...not much compared to those who will get CARS and stuff, but we have six kids...this is a BIG splurge for us!). We had actually hoped to have a bit more back then we did, but it is good enough.

I'm still waiting on a W-2 so I don't know if we'll get any money back or not. I usually like to reserve part of the money to do something fun with. I agree with the original OP that it can be depressing to always only pay bills.

Although if we do get money back this year we are going to pay off the credit card as much as we can. Woo Hoo!

I am still working on figuring out what we are getting back, but it looks to be a large amount. It will pay for us to drive back to California this summer. My niece is getting married and two of my kids are in the wedding. SO, we have to buy a dress and rent a tux. AND pay for gas to get out there. Once we are there, we have a place to stay, so that is not a problem. Beyond that, my husband wants to put it in savings...

I just started reading Dave Ramsey last week...1st thing...emergency fund! 2nd, Putting our tax $$ aside for next year (we don't escrow), and last paying off our smallest CC and working on the big one!

We need a new mattress and box spring set ( Ours is almost 9 years old and was a cheap one to begin with) but that will just have to wait until I close a loan (I work on commission, so I only get paid on what closes..kinda sucks....)

Ours is 14 years old! We had really hoped to do that this year, but it will have to wait one more year, I guess!
