Does anyone have a DH that likes to buy them expensive gifts such as diamonds and jewlery? Do you tell your DH what you like or are they just good at picking things out?
How do you feel when they buy you something so expensive?

My first thought is that I feel a little bad because I know we could put the money towards something more meaningful, while at the same time I appreciate the thought and love of the gift.

DH used to do this... and now, he is cheap No, we just have 3 children now. However, I do believe diamonds are in the air for Valentines Day this year and I won't feel guilty about getting them

DH used to buy me jewelry for everything but now he doesn't because I wear the same jewelry all the time. I rarely wear half the stuff he has bought me, so no (and it's my fault LOL )

Ummm ..... no

Just the thought of my dh buying me expensive jewelry makes me laugh out loud. I got a good chuckle out of that one. I don't even have a diamond on my wedding on my wedding or engagement ring. He is way too practical for that!

I often joke with him that if anything ever happens to him, next time I'll marry a rich guy who'll buy me diamonds! - Not that I want anything to happen to him. I love the guy no matter how practical he is!

My dh does this! He always goes entirely overboard and spoils me rotten. lol For Christmas last year he bought me an entirely too expensive but very beautiful 1ct diamond solitare pendant. It is gorgeous, but I did feel a little guilty that he spent so much on me. But he always does. This year he bought me a new digital camera that I had been wanting. Now my birthday is in 2 weeks, I'm afraid to see what he's gonna do!

I never tell him what to get me really. He just knows me pretty well. Sometimes I do drop hints, like with the camera.

I am not a big jewelry fan and usually end up wearing the same items over and over or none at all except for my wedding rings. But, my DH loves to buy me jewelry on special occasions and loves to see me wear jewelry. I've gotten in the habit of making sure I, at the very least, have earrings on when I go out b/c he'll check my ears. I use to get so frustrated with him for buying me jewelry when I hardly ever wear it, thinking the money could be used for so many other things or put into savings. Now, I try not to worry about it and appreciate the thought knowing that its one of the ways he likes to say "I love you."

Yes. DH is very good about knowing what I like. I also will tell him, if we're out shopping, gosh I really like that ring or that watch etc He remembers stuff like that. All his gifts are meaningful to me. How do I feel about it? Lucky perhaps? He is very generous towards me and a wonderful husband and father, I am grateful to have such a blessed life.

Oregano's husband and mine are from a similar mold. Mine has spoiled me rotten with the gifts he has bought me. In the 8 years that we have been a couple, I have only mentioned 2 pieces of jewelry that I've wanted, and he has bought me 8-10 pieces. They are all very lovely not only because of the way they look, but also because they are from him. He has also bought me a nice 35 mm camera and a digital vid camera without me even hinting (I really didn't know I even wanted them). He is a great gift-giver.

How do I feel? Very lucky and appreciative. He is good to me and I try to reciprocate in ways that are meaningful to him.

Before we had a house and kids he did buy me a couple of nice pieces. I know that if he could do it without getting us into debt that he would buy me more and thats good enough for me.

My dh is definitely the more extravagant of the two of us. He loves to buy jewelry, lingerie, and perfume. He sends me flowers frequently. He always buys me WAY more expensive things than I would buy myself since I'm the cheapo!! He's bought me jewelry many, many times without being asked. I'm bad about making some comment about how much something costs, and I've tried really hard to work on that while we've been married. I TRY to just act grateful and remember to appreciate it instead of thinking of how much cheaper I could have gotten the item for....but it's HARD!!
