... and that includes 68 cents from my secondary checking account! We have NEVER been this low in our checking account. DH gets his paycheck automatically deposited tonight at midnight, so I guess I say a prayer that nothing else goes through the account. I can't believe it.. I can't believe we only have 5 cents in our bank account. I don't know whether to or !! ......

Wow that is low, still better than being over drawn here is to hoping nothing goes threw. I have had many days of being over in checkbook but the checks didn't go throw till later and I squeaked by.

Yeah it can be scary when that happens, but like the other posters said it could be negative. I've had that happen before. Hang in there.

I just wanted to say I'm taking the advice that was posted on here (can't remember who posted it) of rounding up some purchases when I write them in the checkbook so there is always a little extra cushion. Like my electric bill was 26.45 so I entered 29.45 and do that on several bills b/c with dh previously not paying close attention to the checkbook we would have several times we were very low or even overdrawn.

Hmm I never thought of that - well that's a little reassuring! :D There have been plenty of times in the past that I've been in the red before payday came, and this time I thought I would be, but prayed that we'd be okay - prayers were answered and we'll eek by this time!

I do this too, but had an unplanned expense show up and it threw me off. DH wants to switch banks to the Bank of America where they round up all your purchases for you, but there isn't one in a 100 mile radius of us.

T

Thats what I do....we never have had to use it in months since we started it til last week dh charged something with the check card 2 days before he got paid! The bank still thought we had 60 bucks in the account ( from rounding up) but in my checkbook we were in the red.

i also have been rounding up for years so i have roughly $520.00 dollar cushion so if there is an emergency i could use that i just pretend it is not there and i don't tell dh or he would want to use it to pay down bills but that is our emergency money and we cna't afford not to have that there we have been short so i go into the red in my register but in reality i'm not but this way my cushion is there.

I havwe a question about rounding up in your check register. How do you balance your check book? I tried this last month and it was so difficult to balance the book.
