Yes, absolutely. One of my favorite sayings is "Time is Money". I am trying to save time now more than ever, since with kids in our house time seems to be at such a premium. I don't know if I think of my time in terms of dollar-amounts, but rather as how do I want to spend my time? Would I rather be doing this... or that?

Years ago, I read "Your Money or Your Life". I loved the authors' idea that we should consider all of our purchases, not in $$ terms, but in how much of our lives we give up (to work) to make the purchase. Since then, whenever I consider a purchase, I think to myself "Is this really worth XX hours of work?" A lot of the time, the answer is "NO".
I don't put a monetary value on my time. I try to live life in the slow lane. I try and do things I really enjoy 90% of the time, and do the things I have to do (insert cleaning toilets & other unpleasant housework here) 10% of the time. I would rather have a lot less money and more time with my dh and kids.

Not thinking about now much money I have per hour allows me to be a lot more relaxed about how we spend our days together.

Yes I do this. I flit around to different grocery stores getting what I hope to be the best prices on everything. However, sometimes if I have a bunch other things to do, yeah I'll spend the $1 per milk more at "B" store rather than "A" store. Why?

If I'm going to be late picking up ds from school, to me it means more to me being on time than having him wait around for me.

If I'm extremely busy and need to be doing something at home, I'll spend the extra $ not having to go to another store.

The way I look at it: The reason I shop at all these discount places is to save money for the times I cannot!!! Sometimes I just need to run to the high end grocery store and I don't feel guilty for it, since I've saved so much more at the other stores over the months. It all balances out where I've gotten a pretty good deal when you average it all together.

I don't really think about it to often but have asked dh how many hours of work would it take him to pay for something. Helps him to think about that next gun purchase.
