How often do you balance your check book? The reason I ask is because we never do it!!

My DH pay's all the bills and handles the check book (all i ever do is write a few checks here and there for groceries, school fee's etc.) but he never balances it, and never writes the amount that we have in the checking account in the check book!! I know we have about $1,000.00 extra just in case, so I really don't worry. When I was single I kept track of the balance and knew when I was getting short on funds, but that was about it, and I only bounced a check 1 time in those days, thankfully.

Are we the only ones that do this??

Never ...

but I do check on my online statements both with my checking account and my Mastercard about twice a week to see if there are any unusual charges and to make sure I have enough in the checking account to cover upcoming costs.

Just about daily....I bank on-line and hardly ever open my paper statements b/c I check it on line every few days to make sure transactions clear, as soon as they do, I mark it.

I do online banking which I check daily or at least every other day, I like Shell check them off once they show up! I would recomend online banking to anyone its so easy!

I balance it weekly. I pay all the bills and keep the checkbook. My dh uses his debit card for everything, gas, food, etc. I use my online banking to see what he has spent and balance the checkbook. When he gets home and I tell him where he has been and what he has spent by checking our online bank account it just drives him crazy!
