Kim made a great point in the Less Debt Isn't Always better thread. What matters is not how much debt you have but how much your net worth is.

How much is your net worth? I'll post a poll so people can answer anonymously if they want.

Include...
the paid value of your house
all savings including retirement savings and investments

Don't include anything that decreases in value (car, boat, computers, cameras etc).

I need more than a minute to edit. :-)

I forgot to add

minus any debts other than your mortgage.

Good thread, Kathryn. I wonder what it would look like if you included more high-end options, such as $50-$100K, $100-$150K, so on.

Here are some more resources to help calculate net worth:

That is one thing I was really excited about. In figuring out my net worth, I realized we had quite a bit of dollars that we OWNED. NOT DEBT. YEs, we have debt, but it is minimal in relation to what we own. The problem I now have is since we took a pay cut, trying to live within our current means.

I just edited the poll and removed the old votes. Anyone who voted prior to the edit may not be able to vote again.

It always helps to know your net worth. We have very little dept right now. Will nee to work on the retirement fund. Dh thinks guns is the way to go. I don't agree.

I found this interesting...I hardly ever focus on what my net worth actually is. doing this little exercise makes me realize that I am in a pretty good position.
