If you had an extra 800 a month, what would you do with it and I mean extra, and you cant depend on it (like oh I would buy a new car) and it cant be used for household bills.
Would you save it?
Buy things?
Household improvements?
Save some buy some?

I'd put it towards the courses that I'm going to have to go take, an hour away sooner or later,, before I rejoin the teaching world anyway

That's an easy one, INVEST IT!!!! That would add up pretty quickly, after a three years you could then use the interest to spend, or reinvest. After only three years you would have over $4500. in interest (@ a modest 8%), not to mention the $28,880. in principal. This is pretty much what we do now, make our money work for us! You could even only invest half, you would still be making a great little nest egg.

I'd probably invest most of it as well, allowing for a few splurges here and there. But, if my house needed any improvements (thankfully its only a year old) I would use save half towards whatever we needed in that area and invest half.

I would invest half, splurge the other half on painting some rooms in our house and redecorating one of the bathrooms, and with what's left over, buy a new wardrobe for me and dh.

i would probably put half in a savings account for my son for school and then other half for some home improvements...not that many so then i would put the rest into a savings account for us.
