I have two, one Mastercard that I use for ALL purchases (to gain points but pay off in full every month) and a Visa as a back up. I haven't used it in years.

I have 2 credit cards for Maurices and Target. I am young, and i get 5-8 credit card offers a week, but i go through them very carefully, check out all the rates, they usually aren't that great. Since I am young, I try to keep minimal balances on my card and make monthly payments to establish my credit. Heck, i keep my Maurices card set at a $100 spending limit so i don't get myself into any kind of trouble. And we rarely use the Target card. It's very simple to use credit cards - don't use them unless you know you have the money to pay them back instantly! Yeah there are times where it's an emergency and you have to charge quite a bit, but i think that's what scares people about credit cards, they are afraid they will abuse them. If you think this and you don't have cards, don't get them. If you do have cards and you feel that way, get rid of them! Your just asking for trouble otherwise.

Well.... I used to be addictied to CCards.....From age 18-22 I racked up about 6500 dollars in debt I had soo many CC's when I got engaged (to my now husband) him and my father burned all of my cc's...our credit sucks because I was so bad in the hole..... now THANKFULLY we are all paid off... it took SOOOOOO much hard work but it is worth it...THe family now has ONE ccard I personally do not know where it is ... for EXTREME emergency only..... (I still can't be trusted with plastic)....

We only have one, and it is paid off every month. We use it to get the miles and it makes paying some of our monthly bills easier, it just happens and so we never will have a late fee. I just have to check the amount charged when we get the bill to make sure there are no errors. We used to have more but, before we married we cancelled all except for one of mine which we both became joint on.

I have Amex and then Victoria's Secret and Talbot's. I don't carry a balance on any of them, pay them off every month.
