[quote=Sun11598]Is there a store you could use a discount at? (I've heard, but don't know for sure, that Walmart doesn't give employee discounts).

WalMart has a 10% employee discount as does Target.

I know it's not the evenings, but I've started a paper route in the mornings and bring home 1100.00 per month. That's gross b4 taxes, supplies and gas. I figure I'll bring home around $700. I have to get up at 3:00 and am usually done by 6:00, 7:00 on sundays. I have a larger route though, so it takes longer than most. You can do it b4 you go to work each day. My district manager's wife is a school teacher, and she has been doing it for over 4 years. She pays their house payment every month.

I know that you said that you are a teacher. Have you ever thought about teaching at a local college? Many teachers have masters so if you do - it would make you eligible. I teach for a Christian college in their adult learning program. So, it is very part time and the classes only last on average 5 weeks.

Or would you ever consider direct sales? I also do this out of my home and truly love it. I get to write off lots of things (like mileage, part of house payment, parts of utilities, product I use). Plus I make my own hours - so you could work it around your kids activities. My business gives us lots of flexibility and extra money. I come home feeling energized and not drained.

I know that I will probably "get shot" for offering that but I think that it works for a lot of people.

Where do you live? In most states you can work-from-home as a teleservices operator - www.liveops.com, etc. That's what I do.

Pizza delivery and gas station attendant (quickie mart kind of stores) are the two most dangerous jobs in America. Besides, if I'm going to work, I want to make a decent income.

Delivery service sorters work evenings and make really good wage because they are union (UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc.)

Contact a temp agency and ask for parttime work. Usually they have someone who handles just staffing part-timers for jobs like conventions, inventory counting, etc. It would be nice to have a parttime job that you can work when you want to instead of when you HAVE to.

I also opt for and early morning vs a late afternoon / evening job - and I'm NOT a morning person. Usually your local bakery or coffee shop needs someone to come in just to handle the morning rush. The look at people who want just a few hours every morning as a blessing.

WOW THANKS for all the great tips and advice about staying away from pizza delivery & quickie marts. Their is always an abundance of advertisements for these positions. Our local Papa Murphy's Pizza had an ad in the newspaper, I am going to pick an application from them this afternoon. I will also look into the newspaper delivery option.

Unfortunately I am not a teacher yet, I work in the Human Resources Department for our local school district. After I get my debt paid off I would like to return to school to complete my BA in Education, I currently only have my AAS.

Sshallenbu do you have to collect payment from the customers you deliver the newspaper to? Or is it strictly delivery and someone else collects? What are the other supplies you pay for besides gas?

If you live near an entertainment venue with sports and concerts, you could be an usher. It's very part time AND kinda fun :D

Your very right thanks for the tip although the closest one is quite a drive from where I live. Bummer that would be fun and free entertainment.

No, they used to make the carriers do the collections, but there was such huge turnover, they stopped. It is my understanding that it was a real nightmare when the carriers had to collect. I throw for the Tulsa World, it's the largest one around, so that maybe part of th reason we don't have to collect. I know our local paper the carriers do have to do collections. I have to pay for my bags (.01 each) and rubber bands (.005)each. I only have to bag when there is a 20% chance of showers, and a lot of my customers have tubes out by their mailboxes, so I don't even have to rubberband those. Special sunday paper bags with advertisments on them are given to us. If you don't have any little ones at home, I'd highly recommend it. It's hard for me because, I have two kids and they don't like that I have to be in bed by 8:30-9:00 even on weekends.
