Granted this is on the brochure of the new refrigerator we just bought but I think it is a truthful statement:

Replacing a refrigerator bought in 1990 with a new Energy Star qualified model can save enough energy to light the average household for more than four and a half months.

Over how long of a period of time? What does it cost to buy the new fridge vs. saving the money, I mean?!?! We have a newer model, but I was curious on this. I would LOVE to find some ways to save money on our electric bill. It is OUTRAGEOUS.

okay first can you fix the title for me? Did not realize I spelled efficient wrong (duh)

Hmmm well I wish I could answer that better, I can tell you a friend of mine bought a newer model this past year plus changed up to energy efficient light bulbs through her house and she swears her bill went down $50.00 a month and has stayed there for the past 3 months since the purchases so add that up over the year and thats $600.00! I dont know what her new fridge cost but I would imagine you would make up for it in less than 18 months.
