Not really. Dh and I are on the same page. However, we do have 'fun' money accounts that we put $ in when we have a little leftover (hasn't been added to in months) that we use to spend on ourselves. I mean if he Really wants another screwdriver and it's not essential, or he has one like it but this one is 'better' then he uses his 'fun' money to get it. If I want another cooler (think lunchbox. I have one for every use) I use my 'fun' money to get it. Then there is none of that 'What a waste on our money' talk.
