So I went and registered dd for preschool last night and they're switching it to MWF instead of 2 days a wk. and starting a 3 yo. preschool 2 days a wk. So 4 yo. will pay $75 a mo. instead of $50 and 3yo. will pay $50! On top of this we pay 5 bucks a semester so the teacher can supply milk to preschool and kind. (school budget will not allow for this expense). Also the elem. was built 2 yrs. ago and we're paying about 30% of property taxes toward this. It never ends! My kids education is a big priority, don't get me wrong but things just ain't as cheap as they used to be. Looking for a way to make $75 a mo. and still be a sahm so my ds doesn't end up in daycare. Also they have scholarships for underincome families and I'm looking into it. Thanks for letting me vent ladies.

I know what you meen, dd is in "free" vpk but everyweek they send home something for raising money . Just today they did a bike-a-thon. Then they have parties once a month and you have to bring snacks and money. IF she eats lunch its 2.00 a day.

That's not as bad as it is here. Dd goes 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours and it is around $90 a month. I did see they were increasing it for next year. Luckily they now have 4K here which is free so she will be doing that next year. I know what you mean about taxes-we pay an awful amount here!

That's about average for what I'm paying for my kids. Next year for DS to go to 4yo PS it will be $70 a month. Thankfully, they do have a milk program but we have to pay $20 at registration as a deferment.

We pay $65/mth for Tues, Wed, Thurs 2 1/2 hours a day. We paid $25 when we registered for supplies and we take a snack about once a month. Next year it will be raised to $70/mth. I am saving up now because we are sending DD again instead of starting K and also my youngest will go the following year if we can afford it so she can go 2 years instead of one as well. It is pricey but I think it's worth it - I have seen soooo much improvement in my DD.

You may want to ask if your preschool will allow you to attend 2 days instead of 3. I know our preschool allowed a couple of families to bring their kids for 2 days instead of 3 (and pay $50 instead of the $75). The moms that are doing this said it has worked out great.

The teachers are very flexible there and there wasn't a waiting list last year, so not sure if that would be the case where you are....

Quentin goes 2 days/week for 2 hours/day (it is the 3-year-old class), and it is $65/month. We also got to sign up to bring different school supplies when we went to orientation last summer, each child brings snacks when it is their turn, and occasionally we get a note to bring something for a special snack that they will make in class. I don't think it is too bad, cost-wise. Next year he will be in 4-year kindergarten, which is run by the school district (even though it is basically just 4 day/week preschool for 3 hours/day), so it won't have a monthly fee.

WOW! I wish I could pay that little. We pay $275 a month for my 4 year old to go M-F 8:30-11:30. We've used the same preschool for the past 4 years, as her sister went there too. And they just keep raising the price. Next year it will be $300 for this same class. I'm glad she'll be in kindergarten next year.

BTW for MWF (which is what she did last year) it was $225 a month.

It probably doesn't help, but the one ds attended was $125 for two years ago, and that was on the very low end, cost-wise, as it was through the school district. I'm worried about what it will be in a couple of years when diva's ready to go.
