I can not for the life of me save money or not spend money!! Probably cause DH is gone for so long and I am lonely and bored. But damn I really need to get this done!

When my DH is overseas, I hardly ever hit a store or I will spend $$$ just so I can have something "new" to come to or to keep the kids occupied while I take a break. I chug it to the park or invite friends over- especially when he's getting good per diem its too easy to spend so I just stay away unless I have to!

I so understand where you are coming from! Hang in there and don't beat yourself up over it!

thanks. I really need to rethink what I am doing. We are almost 1/2 through our deployment so I have time to change.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have a husband deployed. Pat yourself on the back!

Do you have ways of treating yourself without spending money? Having friends over? Hobbies? Having a friend watch your kids just so that you can relax, take a bath and watch TV? That sort of thing?

I had a hard time at first, too. So, I set up an automatic amount every pay period to be saved. At the time it was $300 a period. We saved a lot, but it was quite a bit of work.

I know where you are coming from! Dh just deployed 9 days ago and I'm already feeling the urge to go out and spend--just to get out and do something, anything! I am just taking out a set amount of cash at the start of the week and even if I've spent it all by day 5, I don't get out more until the new week has started. It is helping to keep it under control so far, but he's only been gone a little over a week so I don't know how I'll be doing in a few weeks or more. ((hugs)) to you Mama!

Thanks everyone. I am really really going to try and change things. I know it weighs alot on my mind since I can not work and am fighting disability. I am going to start leaving my wallet in the truck when I go someplace. I even over wrote a check this payday. Dang it!! Ugh.
