I now know what my problem is!! I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner!! I had gastric bypass surgery Nov 05, well what I have slowly done is traded my addiction to eating to shopping! No wonder I am freaking broke!! Now to get it all under control!!!

It's called a transfer of addictions. I wrote about it in my blog. (under my name). I am also formally obese. I transferred my addiction to an addiction to saving money which came at a sacrifice to my family. Someone in the comments suggested I transfer the addiction to something healthy like jogging, or nutrition. I'm working on that this on finding the balance.

It's interesting to see that you transfered to spending and I transfered to saving. I heard that there are a fair number of women who have had by-pass surgery that have transfered to hard drugs. You may find reading a book on general addictions helpful.

That is so understandable! I hope you are able to find some hobbies that will keep you busy and healthy and keeping your lif ein balance. Best of luck to you- hang in there!!

Yeah did drugs when I was young and know what I have to lose with my family so that was not a choice! I wish I could spend money. I really need to figuare out how. I would love to have some saved up before my husband comes home instead of nothing. I have started working out and am hoping that will turn me away from going shopping. I am too sore to do anything LOL I have fibromyalgia so I am feeling it!

I just wrote about that in another post a couple days ago. I am still learning the "why's" of my eating and figure until I do that, everything else is a mute point.

Something similar happened to my mother in law. She was slightly over weight due to having 4 kids but not huge. When she quit smoking she changed her habit to eating and now weighs between 350 and 400 pounds and refuses to slow down on eating even though her family begs her to lose weight and she has diabetes and will eat every thing in sight. We even caught her cleaning off everyones non eaten food off their plates after dinner one night....YUCK.
