The thread "Maybe I'm not a true Mommysaver" got me thinking. Maybe it would be fun to define what a true Mommysaver really is. The ultimate Mommysavers... who is she? What is her relationship with money?

This for me would encompass a lot of the forum topics, not just money saving topics. A true mommysaver to me would be someone who is always thinking about the future. Someone who not only frugally provides for her family, and is constantly researching for more ways to be money wise, but is also someone who is VERY conscious about how her actions can affect the environment long term. She is someone who takes care of herself and her family. She is supportive of her dh/sig other, her children, and environmental causes. She is sympathetic to those in need, crisis or turmoil. She is someone who can cheer and celebrate other's victories and be genuinely happy for them. She is someone who reaches out to the lost, encourage them to participate and engage with the rest of us. She offers support to those who are in need of prayer or advice. She offers inspirational and sometimes critical counsel to those of us in search of a better life; spiritually and physically.

A true mommysaver to me is someone who encompasses all of these things.

I basically think that it is someone who wants what is best for her family. They try to live a life that is financially responsible. But, then again, I am the one thinking I may not be a try Mommysaver, so what do I know!

I definitely agree with the above - I think that a true mommysaver is someone who puts her family first and wants to provide the best life she possibly can for them. That may be by staying home, it may be by working outside the home part or full time. What is essential to a mommysaver is that her family knows they are loved and that they will be cared for no matter what she has to do. Her decisions are not made lightly as her goals are not self-serving (although she is allowed time off and a bit of selfishness from time to time!) This definitely extends into friendship - loyalty and generosity - as has been evidenced many times on this board. A mommysaver is not of a particular career, political party, or financial bracket, yet is passionate about those causes which she embraces.

I also would have to agree with all the above, but it also makes me think that many days I fall terribly short!!!! Thanks for getting me to thinking girls.

Christy did a great job, but I wanted to add:

-- Someone who realizes that a good life doesn't have to be expensive

-- Someone who celebrates what they have; doesn't dwell on what they don't have

-- Someone who is careful financially; whether they're trying to pay down debt or build wealth

-- Someone who wants to use their life to make the world a better place

-- While she makes her family a top priority, she isn't a martyr and nourishes her own well-being as well

-- A Mommysaver doesn't care what others are spending their money on. She knows who she is and is happy with her own lot.
