My husband sold his motorcycle to use the money toward the downpymt of our new house. He mentioned this past weekend that he could save a lot of money on gas if he got a motorcycle and drove that to work! I didn't have to say a word, I just looked at him, and raised my eyebrows. Then he said, "But we have so many other bills that it really doesn't make sense right now." EXACTLY!!

Being told that "he makes the money" would not go over well with me. My dh tried that one on me when I was home last summer not working, the first time ever I didn't have a paying job since we have been together (I had a 1 yr old and a newborn however!!!) We got into a good argument, then later on, when I cooled down, I explained that the comment he said made me feel that I was not an important member of the family, which really hurt because I do so much for our family, I just don't get paid for it.

My Ex spent money like that, was obsessed with having a full sized extended cab chevy, brand new to drive back and forth to his job that the prison (75mi r/t.) His spending habits were one of the contributing factors ending our marriage.

Now he complains because he has a $500 a month truck payment for 7 yrs and has to pay $450 a month in child support. I'm glad I don't have to see what it costs him to keep gas in it.

My current hubby drives a 1992 Ford Ranger with no payment. He works in construction so he actually needs and uses his truck. He and I are much more compatible in regards to spending.

wait till he goes in and is told he has to roll over a certain amount into the new truck. That may stop him.
