This may seem like a silly question, but how do you do groceries once a month? Or even once every two weeks? I can't even imagine the carts I would have... Do you buy a lot of everything?? Do you freeze a lot? I go 1-2 times a week because I always run out... Do you all have big freezers?? I'm asking because I want to be a once a month shopper as well, or even every 2 weeks, i just don't know how....

You dont want to be a once a month shopper. lol I just went from that to a 2 week shopper. I think with me its easier cause Im not cooking every single night. My dh doesnt get home till like 8pm on most nights. So I dont have to cook. I plan out probably a weeks worth of meals then just stuff for the kids. I look to see what I have and what I can make with what I have.. and what I need to get.

Going once a month takes freaking forever in the store (we would end up with 2 carts) and by week 3.. things started to get sparse. lol

I agree with Ember. I am a once a month shopper. I need to get out of that and go once a week or every two weeks. It takes awhile to shop once a month and it seems like i always get the same thing every single time. Plus, like Ember said, by week 3, everything is gone. So, i'm going to start out with the every 2 week shopping and see how that goes.

When i go shopping, i buy alot of stuff that i can freeze. I have a deep freeze that i use.

I am a once a week shopper because of sales but I have come to learn that my freezer is my BEST FRIEND. I go to the bread outlet buy lots of good meat when its on sale at the price I am willing to pay. It HELPS SO MUCH!!!! I say go get the BIGGEST freezer you can afford and learn to make use of it (and your crockpot--my other best friend).

When I take a trip to Sam's Club, I usually will stock up on meats for a month. Take them home, divide them up, cook some, and freeze them. I do the same when I go to the bread outlet. I stock up for about a month and freeze them. And for everything else, I go shopping weekly to get the most out of the sales. Now, if there is a good sale on meats (and even bread) in the regular stores, I have been known to stock up there instead of Sam's or the bread outlet.

I shop for the 8 of us every 3 weeks or so. We have 2 refrigerator and a small freezer. We have shelves in the basement where we store food. I just make a list of about 20 meals and buy everything we need. Plus basic stuff for lunch and stuff. I usually have on big cart at Sam's and 1 big cart at the regular grocery store. Usually around $300 total. I do buy bread when we need it. (I hate bread that has been frozen) It really is not that hard.

I go twice a month and love it.... I mean I do go on a milk run but that is ti.... we usually buy a lot of the same things everytime.. I seems to me that I buy all my meat once a month and freeze it, Also I freeze my bread. I find it helps if I keep my freezer organized and the regrigerator also Everything has a spot. I know that might seem anal but it is easier to plan what I need. I also make a list and stick to it. I find we have more food at the end of week 2 if I make good list and stick to it.

I have been a once a week shopper for years now and now I have to learn to be a every two weeks shopper. I am stragling along and hope to win the battle very soon. It is so hard for me to get back to that place. I really really need to go on a "budget diet" and clean a few things up before Christmas. Ok, enough of that. I can plan the meals for supper but everything else has suffered as has my budget because of it.

I kinda have a ridiculous question. For those who freeze their meat.. like in the big freezers... do you freeze it in the packaging that it came in? Or do you have to put it in something else??
