Can anyone offer some advice on how Craiglist exactly works or tips from someone who has experience with them. I have a large amount of items to get rid of and don't know what website (Craiglist, Amazon, or ebay) to sell on. Any advice??

:yay!: :happy dance: I've done ebay in the past and it works out fine for my needs. But I just started some posts through Craigslist and found it to be so easy! Especially for large items. Just last night I posted my old kitchen table set, my fairly new patio set, old patio set, and some books. I got instant response for the kitchen table set! I have 8 people interested already! They want it now too. This is so easy, I am going to post more things! I have a computer desk that I want to sell too. I love it!

Craigslist is free, but you have to have it in your area. Go to craigslist.com, and look up where you live. The other two charge. Ebay charges for listing AND a % off final selling price. I believe Amazon only charges off of final selling price.

I like Craigslist b/c its free, you can list as many things as you like, when you like. You can list all in one post or break them into separate posts (which I would do so you can be more specific in your ad). You can accept cash, paypal, checks- your choice, but I usually say cash and carry. You could ship items if you wanted to, but the beauty of craigslist is not having to mail anything out. You can have people come to your house or meet them at a neutral location. It is great for getting rid of large items that you know you canget okay money for, or just don't want to/can't haul off to goodwill.
I personally like Craigslist for most things over Amazon/ebay. If you have textbooks, etc they might do better on Amazon. Name brand clothing might be better on eBay, but I'm a craigslist convert b/c its so easy!!
Good luck!

It's Craigslist.ORG not com!
I love Craigslist, I sell on both CL and ebay. I would always try CL first, b/c it's easy, local and free! Especially big items or baby/kids items tend to sell right away on CL.
There are some things that don't sell well on CL and you could make more money on Ebay. Example clothes and valuable antiques. If that is what you have I would do Ebay. Everything else I'd sell on CL.

For me Amazon is the best. I tried EBay and found it time consuming to get stuff listed, plus I never sold anything. Amazon provides you with pics and descriptions, however the item has to be in their data base. It's easier if you have a bar code # or an ISBN #. I have friends who are very sucessful with EBay, I'm not sure what i was doing wrong.

OOPS! That could've been a problem. There could be problems when you mix up the org's and com's, just never know! Thanks for fixing this.

Craigslist seems the easiest to me, but not everyone knows about this site. I learned about it from Mommysavers.

I like Craigslist and have made over $1500 selling stuff. Unfortunately, I tend to spend a lot of money, too. I found some things do best putting them together as "lots". For example, I have sold a big bag of small baby toys for $10 together instead of piecing them out. The main problem with Craigslist, though, is that people don't always use their best manners... I've been stood up many times when I have a meeting set up or sometimes a person "doesn't have enough cash" on them... I steer them to the ATM down the street. For the most part, though, I've had great experiences.

I just found out about Amazon Marketplace on Mommysavers last week. I have sold over $300 worth of books and DVDs in 8 days. The listing is super simple, then amazon sends an email saying -- SOLD, SHIP XXXBook NOW. You ship it out, send an email to the person and tell amazon to deposit you $$ in your checking account. They take their fee off the top, so you get the profit, minus the shipping. So quick & Easy.
I also tried Craigs list, nothing yet. I am hating eBay anymore...Used to sell on there a ton, but got screwed too many times.
