So we bought concert tickets for his b-day friday ($100). His idea. Then last night we went out w/ friends to dinner ($27) my idea. We're overdrawn but have a credit reserve of $60 at our bank so no rubber checks thank goodness. This can be moved if need be. Should have posted it to chit chat cause I just needed to talk to someone besides a toddler today. Hope you guys are having a better day than me.

We just did something similar, but for different things. I had 2 checks that I could have put in the bank, but hadn't gotten around to and had a payment for DH's dentist cleared the bank, which put us under. Grr!! We don't have a credit reserve, so we get charged $31 if we are overdrawn. It hardly ever happens, but I hadn't kept up in Quicken like I should have and didn't realize we were cutting it so close.

I did that this week too!! I hadn't kept up with my check book and when i went ahead and balanced it i was in the RED.

Dh wasn't too bad about it though. I have a reserve too so hopefully nothing will get returned.

So many days of our lives are wasted being angry and not speaking to those we love because of something like that. Yes it's frustrating but everyone makes mistakes, I hope he gets over it soon.

I have done it sooooo many times beore I started using Quicken - once after my divorce it was so bad the snowball effect ate up 3 of my weekly paychecks before I could get it under control.

Good Luck with your situation

We get only a $5 charge that transfers money from our savings to our checking. Typically its the Automatic payments that gets me in trouble. We have our car payment, car insurance, utilities, and morgage all on auto pay.
I too use a budget tracking soft ware it helps me not to this and I really like its ablity to forcast our finances.

Hmmm, it's Monday morning and this reminds me that I need to balance my checkbook! I also need to pay a couple of bills.

Thanks so much for this post, I went to check my bank account just because of this and while I was expecting to see like $7 (i know lol) it was negative 278!!! It would have been a long time before I noticed our electric company double charged us. I called them and they refuse to refund it and now it's set up in a claim at the bank, thank you thank you!
