Hi everyone,

I've been reading and enjoying for about a year here, and finally thought I might post. I have learned a lot from you wonderful ladies.

I'm Lisa, wife and a mom to a 4 yr old daughter. I work full time, my DH is a SAHD, so it's great to have so many wonderful $ saving ideas for our one income family.

We have done the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace workshop through our church and it was wonderful. Great to see so many others benefiting from this info here!

I wanted to share a tip I learned from Consumer Reports that could save a few bucks-
Consumer Reports rated the Wal-Mart Great Value POWDER dishwashing detergent as the #1 best, even topping Cascade in overall cleaning ability. This is a huge money saver for me since we have extremely hard water and I go through tons of this stuff.
Consumer Reports also rated Gain POWDER w/Bleach as the #1 laundry detergent too. Which is not much of a money saver, however they noted that all of the POWDER detergents for both dishwashers and washing machines signifcantly out performed the liquids. I didn't know there was a difference until I switched back to powder and I've noticed a huge difference. Gain w/bleach also doesn't fade clothing. I'm in AZ and we wear a lot of cotton knits, so this is a big money saver for me in the long run not to have to replace so many clothes. Anyway, just thought I'd share- I hope this is of help.

Lisa

Wow. I didn't know that. My washing machine actually says it is better on the machine to use liquid!! Interesting. Oh, and Welcome to Our Group! Great way to start! LOL

Welcome and thanks for the tip. I'm going to try the walmart brand dish detergent next time. I usually buy electrosol but will give it a try.
Thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome! :D I'll look forward to posting more often.

My fav tip I read on this board was to cut my dryer sheets in half. It's amazing how effective they still are- even here in AZ dryness.
