I have already told grandparents and aunts not too go overboard with toys this year with either one of them. My older ds ends up playing with these things for like a minute then all the pieces end up all over the house and that's it. I'd rather see the money spent on savings bonds or money for their college accounts. My ds plays with cars, dinosaurs and Star Wars toys mostly so I don't mind if things get added to those collections.

I feel the same way. It feels like a waste when pieces get lost and\or your child loses interest in the toys. I am going to get my son practical things like maybe a gift card to the movies so that I can take him and some VideoNows. His b-day is December 16th so I will give him a couple of gifts then also and take him bowling or to Chuckie Cheese or something. My daughter will be two so and her b-day is December 27th ( you can tell I didn't plan these pregnancies Anyway I will get her a couple things because she doesn't quite understand holidays and B-days yet.
