I've come back to work fulltime to take advantage of my husband's 4 weeks paid paternity leave. I really wanted to keep working part time because I love my job. Well, we finally found someone to watch the baby and I was so excited! Then my husband (an accountant) crunches the numbers again and after taxes, tithing, etc, I would only be making $100 week!
For $100/week I'd rather sleep in, spend time with my daughter, and have time and energy to do things around the house. I am sad, though. (also both of my mommy walking buddies are moving during the time I am working!)

You know I didn't like my job but I wasn't going to work for $100 a week either. I say enjoy your time with your DD. I have found a wonderful group of mommy friends through meetup.com. I get out of the house and go to the park or a walk almost everyday. It takes away the feeling of being isolated with a baby. Still it was a tough choice my job had really good benifits.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out the way you had planned. But for what its worth I wouldn't have worked for $100 a week either. Not compared to spending time with your little girl. Hopefully you will find some new friends to spend time with once you are home.

It's hard letting go of a job that you liked - I know I'm experiencing that myself right now. But for $100.00 a week it really isn't worth it. Good luck!

I am planning on quitting at the end of August- I am counting the days. We wanted to make sure our CC bills were all paid before I quit and that is were "my" money has been going, we have 1 more card left and it will be paid off in July!!!!!!!!!! Between daycare and going back & forth from work each day (80 miles round trip) is is not worth it. It has been a scary decision, I have worked (other that maternity leave) since I was 16, so almost 20 years and the thought of not sometimes scares me.

I would love to quit my job, but right now we can't swing it. I only work 3-4 days part-time. Maybe in the future, once our finances are in order, I can't quit my job!

I wouldn't work for $100. a week either. Like others say, there are ways to find Mommy groups and new friends so pursue that and you might be pleasantly surprised. You can't put a price on you children's early years.

Isn't that the truth!! That is exactly why I've been trying to be a SAHM for almost 5 years now. Finally in October I'll be able to quit. My DH is so scared of being in debt and not having things that I've been working these years. I do make half of the money but we almost completely out of debt and it's just greedy now for me to have to work - so I'm quitting soon - not soon enough though.

They offered me more money to stay today, but they want me fulltime. Too bad. Made me feel good though!
