Yesterday, while out, my car over heated . We have had this car for 5 years and never had a problem with it. What needs to be done is to replace the radiator, the plastic coolant resevoir(it melted), and the radiator cap(also melted). All total parts and labor it will be around $350 to $400 dollars to repair . I know that sounds like a lot, but we are just glad the engine wasn't affected. OK, so here is my question. I am just now starting a freedom account. I will show you my break down of categories.
This fridays check
Medical-$30
Auto-$30
Home-$30

2 weeks from now
Medical-$40
Auto-$50
Home-$50

Should I a)Use all of the money from the freedom accounts to pay this bill, or should I b)Go ahead and use the cc but use all of the money from the auto sub account to make the amount on my cc less. This would keep my other accounts growing so that if something else goes wrong in either the house or medically, I would be prepared. What do you think?

As someone who is psyched up about Dave Ramsey, I personally would NOT put anything on a credit card again, unless there was absolutely no other option. I would do whatever it took to not use a credit card.

But that's just me. I am one of those fanatic Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University graduates!

I'm assuming a freedom account is a saving that allows for emergency expenditures. this is such an expense not just one u were prepared for. I would NOT use cc. and use the cash u have stashed away for emergencies.

I agree with newlywed. I wouldn't put it on your CC. The thing I put on my card is gasoline and we put the cash up for it. (I get a 3% rebate towards free gas if I use it.) I learned my lesson the hard way that I can't use CC's unless I put the cash up for it, I let it get out of hand too many times.

I wouldn't charge it unless you can either immediately pay off the balance or have no other option. The only reason we use credit is for the rewards and its paid off every month. CC debt can really snowball so I'd use cash first

Well the good news is we got the car fixed. The bad news is it was 400 dollars. My dhs check was about 2 hundred dollars less than anticipated and so I didn't even have the money I intended to put in the freedom account. I don't even have enough to pay for gas thru the next two weeks. We had no choice but to use the cc for the repair, but we won't use it for anything else;PROMISE. Hopefully my dhs check next payday will be what I anticipate it being. In addition to that, I am in the process of hopefully getting a job on weekends.

Oh, I'm sorry things happened like they did. Maybe it won't take
you long to get caught back up. I hate when things like this happen.
Hope it works out.
