Amazon.com: Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams (Revised Edition): Books: David Bach

I really like "Smart Women Finish Rich" because it encourages women to get involved and take an active role in finances/financial planning. I made my mother read it because she's always had the attitude: "I don't need to know anything about personal finance because that's my husband's responsibility." I asked her what would happen to her financially if she outlived my father and she had no idea.

Amazon.com: Smart Couples Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Creating a Rich Future for You and Your Partner: Books: David Bach

I read his smart Couples book. I belive that they are very similar in many aspects but at the same time it works you through setting joint goals for your family. Or at least being able to talk about what you feel is important. The book suggest you read it together chapter by chapter. It helped us be more aware of things we needed to change. Since reading it we are more organized and have doubled our retirement savings

I also say in general a good ecconomics book nothing that pertains to you personally but more to give you a general idea of how money works. I was very happy I got an econ class in college.

I think it is also important to read specialized books when you are about to make a big purchase this can be as little as a how to have a budget wedding bood to something as big a book about buying your first home.
I read a book titled "How to buy your first home" and I was glad I went in not having to have all the terms explained to me.

Amazon.com: The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness: Books: Dave Ramsey

Amazon.com: The Financial Peace Planner: A step-by step guide to restoring your family's financial health: Books: Dave Ramsey
I don't think it will surprise anybody who knows me, but the books that really have helped us with our finances have been Total Money Makeover and Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey. He uses common sense and his down-to-earth approach to explain things. I never felt like he was talking down to me as a reader. Of course, we are FPU grads, and we are psyched about all that Dave Ramsey has done for our finances.

Amazon.com: Think And Grow Rich: Books: Napoleon Hill

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. It is an amazing book!

First published in 1937, this is the end product of two decades of research conducted by Napoleon Hill. His research started when Andrew Carnegie (the steel tycoon who was then the richest man on earth) gave him the assignment of organizing a Philosophy of Personal Achievement. Hill, who was a poor journalist, armed with just an introductory letter from Carnegie, set out to interview over five hundred successful people including Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, John D. Rockefeller, George Eastman, William Wrigley Jr. and Charles M. Schwab. Hill then revealed the priceless wisdom of his research in the form of the thirteen steps to success (in Think and Grow Rich) and the seventeen principles of success (in courses and lectures he conducted).
And the best part - it is such an easy read!!
I highly recommend it!

The Wealthy Barber
It's old and needs a new edition but it sure puts things in simple terms.

Maxed Out
Disturbing .. might make you really mad, but sometime anger is the fuel to change. (about credit cards and credit card companies.)

Millionaire Next Door

The Automatic Millionaire
This is among my favorites ... at least until Newlywed introduced me to Dave Ramsey .. now I'm a new convert to him.

The title of this book sounds interesting. Who is the author?
