Ok, maybe not the whole world, but I called yesterday to get my interest rate lowered on my credit card! It had just gone up and I asked her to lower it. She said 'sure', then paused and said 'now you'll still be using the card, right?'

Ok, now I'm not an idiot! I know they make money when I have the debt, but I was shocked she said that to me? I don't expect her to be cheering for me to get out of debt, but to ask if I'd be charging MORE????

Ugh. . . credit card companies are NOT on my happy list!

I have heard them do LOTS of yucky stuff to people, especially people who are trying to get out of debt. Wait till you try to cancel the card!

I can't wait for the day when my dh and I won't have to deal with credit card companies - ever again!!!!

Jeez, I hate credit card companies. My dh and I finally got all of our cc paid off and cancelled them.
But as you said they got really nasty with us when we told them we would like to cancel our account.

She probably had to put it in a report as justification for lowering the rate.

Can dark get darker?

I was watching a blurb on the news today, they said the best way to get credit card companies to lower your rate is to tell them something like you've got a LOT of spending to do in the next few months, could they lower the rate or should you call another card company. Most of them are so busy thinking about the lots of spending bit, they are anxious to get your money instead of another company.

That sux!I know they are out to get us all the time.Did you manage to get it lowered?

She lowered it! I wish I had known the "i'm gonna spend a lot of money" trick at the time! I'm thinking that might have worked!
