Have you ladies ever been paid the wrong amount of money?

I just switched to a new job at a hospital. previously I was employed by the same company, but at their nursing home. this past friday was payday. Nothing was deposited into my account and I thought it may be because I was a transfer. Sometimes it takes a while and new employees get real checks sent to their office.

on saturday i recieved my stub (but no check) It was one weeks pay, about 28 hours. i was expecting around 300 dollars. It was 600. Upon looking at the stub I see that they had my base pay at 20$ per hour. everything else on the check was right (when i worked, the differentials etc.) when i was hired we never discussed my pay. i just knew that my base would go up since i was going to the hospital. but thats like an 8$ per hour raise.

what would you do??? if it had been direct deposited i wouldnt have noticed. but, this i noticed...

I would go and ask about it. If it is a mistake, it will come back to bite you if you do not take care of it right away.

I agree! Go ask them about it before you get your next check.

I definitely say ask them about it. If it is incorrect then they will be able to fix it now instead of lowering the amounts on your next check.

Go in and tell them since they never disclosed your pay amount that you wanted to verify the amount on your check for your records. Then they'll be able to tell you if that is correct and everyone will be able to save face.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that its right!

I'd say that too, just ask to verify your pay. I hope it is not a mistake!!

I would ask too!

At my last job we got got paid every Friday. I have a serious phobia to this day that I check in the morning to make sure that my chekc was deposited. Anyway, I was expecting to here the usually amount, instead I heard that my check was for $600 more than what I expected.
I went to HR and asked about the issue. They had no idea that the mistake was made. I guess when the person that was doing the time cards entered iinto the computer she mis-struck the key above the correct one which caused the error. They were very happy that I said something.
The only stinky thing was in order for them to fix it they had to take my next paycheck which was the Friday before a long holiday weekend.

Also another time for the same company we has some changes with insurance companies. Every week my premium was taken out and I really didn't think too much about it. We had our annual review of the health insurance and during the presentations I noticed that I was paying at a different rate. I asked them about it and yep they were deducting the wrong amount so they had to reimburse me the difference. It was a whole years worth of wrong premiums about &700

Update on the paycheck...

I found out it was in the Peds office, so I was planning on going in tomorrow and talking to them. Then DH just called and said he had checked our accounts earlier and they had deposited my check. Sooo, that's not fabulous if it was the wrong amount...

I didn't read the other posts yet, but tell personnel immediately. I used to work in payroll, and they Will find it eventually. You won't be 'penalized' but you *will* have to repay that money. You saying something immediately is a good thing. When we caught something and had to tell the person, they were really embarrassed because 99% of the time they will *know* you noticed it and didn't say anything and were trying to hide it. Now I'm not saying there is the exception person that really doesn't look at their pay stub, just cashes it and goes along. But most people I dealt with knew down to the penny how much their check was supposed to be for, believe me!!
