I wanted to quickly reply to an earlier post. Last year we attended a church VBS program that supplied dinner each night before VBS began. As a mom and cannot tell you how wonderful and special this time was. I sat and ate dinner with my children and my husband. This so rarely haapens at home because we are so busy. I know it was an added expense for this church, but did it ever leave an impession as well as made for a wonderful week for my family. I am so happy that some churches are still interested in reaching people and not pocketbooks.

Don't know how I missed this especially since my name is in it.

This church is a large congregation. It is not our home church or even religion. They do alot of outreach. This is the first year they charged a fee, $10 per child. If u volunteer u still pay. I always have donated snacks. They also have 2 outreach ministries they are asking for donations for, which I give to also. They gave each child a mini M&M container and asked to fill it with quarters for Feed my Starving children. that ends up being $30.00 for all three kids. I did fill it but with all sorts of coins not just quarters. I didn't have enough quarters to do that.
This church also gives away their materials to other churches so they can have VBS. They have given my church their materials for the last 2 years. My church actually charges more $30 for two and I can't bring dd#3 (they only take 5yrs and up).
Most people I know go to this church for VBS. They take all faiths. Most of my catholic friends also go here. They do a great job and I give as much as I can. I also happen to send my kids to this church for preschool. If I wasn't Catholic I'd consider joining this church, sorry Pope Benedict.

We are doing VBS at another area church where it is $15 per child. Our church does 'camps' with the same morning time and idea, but they charge $90, so we will never be sending our children to their own church.

I have always lived in big cities and still do, so I have not heard of a free VBS since I was a child.
