My motivation is a notebook I keep of our debt and the rapid debt reduction plan. When I get discouraged I look back to where we were and how far we've come.

My kids are another motivating factor for me. I want to be able to afford thinks for them when they get older that I never had. For instance a trip to Disneyworld in the next 4-6 years.

My biggest motivation is message boards , such as this one. (Thank you, MommySavers!!) Whenever I get the urge to buy something I really don't need, I'll read through some threads until the feeling passes and I regain my frugal senses. It's difficult sometimes, but knowing that there are others out there with similar goals really helps to keep me on track!

I have to agree with another poster that it's my DH's piece of mind. If anything financially goes wrong, he tends to panic and think the sky is falling. Actually, that just happened about 1 hr ago when he found out his next contract is cancelled, so now has to look for a new one. We are well prepared but he isn't comfortable if he isn't working.

My DH works constantly to try to make are money grow- but unfortunately when things are looking up something happens. I really worry about everything my DH does not say anything about it- but I know that he does worry! I can forsee things getting better for us in about 2.5 years and when we get to that point I am hoping that my DH will not have to work so hard (and I will be hopefully working part time when that time comes!).
