everyone already gave great ideas for work so I will address the working mom question. If you are doing what is best for you and your family at this time and place in your life situation then you should be able to answer that question yourself. There is no need to feel guilty. I think you feel more guilty over your situation and not thinking it thru and are just taking it out where you feel the most anger, not being able to stay home. I work in the evenings so I can be home during the day. there are trade off everywhere. I personally like working outside the home and I like being home with the kids. It doesn't have to be one or the other. No need for guilt, that will only hold you back from achieving your goals.

I used one of my daughters teachers that had decided to stay home with her children to tutor her and we paid our local county has a flat fee of $30/hr. For us it was such a big savings instead of using Sylvan or Huntington Learning Centers that are our local franchises for school tutoring. I also found that is was great for a teacher with experience in the local school system was helping her because they could help gives tips on how to prepare for the types of tests she would have as well as the ciriculum she was learning. My daughter went from C's to A's and has been honor roll ever since! That was 3rd grade and now she's going into 10th!

That money was some of the best money I've ever spent and was so grateful for her help!

You and the other teacher could go to the principal and petition a new position... The other idea about tutoring is a good one, too. Again, I'm not sure of your dempgraphic area, but in some places, tutors, particularly teachers, make really good $$. Hope you can figure this out so that you're all happy.

How about working while your husband is home? Maybe waitressing or Starbucks? Starbucks has great benefits and you only have to work 20 hours a week.

I wrote a great response telling everyone how awesome they were and I got booted off the site! I don't know if I have it in me to write the whole thing again, I got spiritual and everything! The point was y'all have given me great input and advice. I have decided to pursue several angles and then see which will work out- it's in God's hands!

Does anyone know of any other online schools besides University of Phoenix? I LOVE that idea! I am also going to do some tutoring on the side until the day care picks up. Thank You everyone!!! I feel much more at peace with everything......for now anyway!

I'm not sure where you live, but you could always check out nannying. Find Nanny Services with eNannySource is good - there are part-time jobs there, maybe you could take your son along. I wonder if you should wait a little longer or try to secure more kids for your home daycare -- right now teachers are off; in another month, they'll be back at work and you could end up with more kids. I'd start asking around to see if anyone will need daycare for their kids in the fall and try to secure them early. maybe even give them better pricing for the first month or something just as a thank you for the early arrangement. Also, I've heard of some daycare providers doing a part-time/day/half-day option too, where someone could bring their child over for one day or a half-day when they need to go to a dr appt, etc.

QQ: what did you have to do to start your at-home daycare? Anything specific? I've been thinking about doing something like that this fall, and with school starting up soon, now would be the time to get it in order if I was going to do it. TIA
