Have you had your court date yet? If not, when you go to court, explain to the judge that you know that you need to pay this off- but the amounts that they are looking from you each month is a lot of money and would cause major finacial hardships (take in pay stubs, copies of your bills and so forth) and ask the judge if he could split up the $400 payments- maybe $200 each month or less than that. Maybe the judge will see it your way some!

My friend went through something like this earlier this year- she did not go to the court though since she made a large pament down- there was an order put out on it of course she got the letter after the fact that she made the first payment. She made her final payment a few weeks later and it was settled and she recieved a letter saying the case was revoked or settled- I forget what she said. She was worried about it and I asked Mommysavers what should be done and what could possibly happen and they all came out with great advice for my friend (like prepare financial statments, show that you are willing to work with the credit card company and so on!)- if you don't go to court can cause major issues like them being able to attach your checking account and being able to take the money out at anytime, the same with savings accounts, your wages and be able to try to get you to pay for this money for a long time (as well as it would effect your credit score for a long. long time!)!

Good luck to you and I hope that the matter is resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible! Good luck on your yard sale- maybe you can go through some of your boys old toys and clothes and try to sell them as well!

I'm glad you've had a little good news. I hope the yard sale
works out well. I thought I'd throw this out to you I don't know
how you feel about this but I found a add in the womans world
about earning $50.00 to $800.00 by advertising with your car.
I don't know all the details but it might be worth you checking
it out. And some of the logos they have are actually pretty neat
looking. The website is FreeCar Media: Nontraditional Marketing.
I hope this helps.

I did fairly well with the yard sale so far. I made around $60. We are having it again tomorrow er... ... ... today rather since this is 2:04 A.M. I didn't sleep at all the other night trying to find stuff and mark it. So after dinner I crashed on the couch only to wake up at 11:00 to having to wash dh's work clothes. I figured I'll go ahead and do a couple more loads of laundry since I'm up. I think I made the most $$. My stuff was selling good. There was a few things I considered throwing away like chipped nick nacks but I went ahead and put 25 cents on them and they actually sold. LOL My neices was kidding me about selling the most and that people needed to buy more of their stuff. So for me getting such a short notice and the fact that I have a few things that is rather too large to haul over there (I'll save them for my yard sale around Aug. or Sept.) I think I'm doing good. Well I need to see if I can find more stuff. Thanks for all the encouragement.

That's great! I wish you the best today - it gets kind of fun when you start seeing that money rolling is, doesn't it? I understand what it's like to want to get more and more items into the garage sale, just to see if you can make more money!

And it sounds like you're looking forward to having your own garage sale later on this summer - good for you!!! You're on the right track. Keep up the momentum!!!

That's wonderful that you were able to bring in $60- that means that you are a lot closer to reaching your goal! I hope you are able to sell more stuff today- maybe you can bring in over $100 today- that would be wonderful!

I just thought of something else. Someone else posted about maybe calling your mortage company and seeing if they could give you a few months without paying your mortgage and put that towards the end of your mortgage. Can you maybe call your some of you utility companies and ask them if it is possible that you can pay a little bit of each bill since you had some issues come up. Most companies are willing to work with you as long as you are willing to pay it back! HTH!

I'll vouch for this; I used to work for a utility company and their policies on payment plans were VERY lenient as long as the person called and wanted to work something out. They only got nasty when the customers just stopped paying and then called 5 months later and were crying about wanting a payment plan for a small amount per month. They're more willing to take a smaller amount each month and actually receive the payment and have the customer maintain a positive payment history then to be the one to fix everything 6 months later when it's snowballed on the customer. I'm not in any way downplaying the problems we all have with paying bills at times; I'm simply saying that you're better off calling and speaking the truth to them -- they can be nice and helpful!

Default Your larger items could go on Craig's list

You stated that you had some larger items that you couldn't move to the current garage sale but were going to try to do another garage sale later. You could list them on Craig's list (it's free) because you need money now. That is unless you were going to use them as the draw items to get people to come to your sale. It's just an idea, if they don't sell, you aren't out any listing or advertising fees. Life has a way of working out. It just sometimes doesn't seem like it will. Keep trying. It will get better.
