In other words, who pays the bills, controls the budget, makes the most everyday financial decisions at your house - you, your husband/significant other, or a financial planner/other person?
Obviously, the big decisions should be made together and the budget set together, but who does the everyday nitpicky budget stuff?

This is a great idea for a poll!
We don't fit any of those options. Right now, we are making the financial decisions together. At one time, we both took care of our own bills (soon after wedding). Then, when the financial crisis exploded, I took over all of the finances. Now, we do everything together. Dh is actually writing more bills now than he used to, but every financial decision is made together.

From May to December, I pretty much take care of all the finances myself because hubby is working so much. I do all the banking and bill paying. If we need to make an important decisions about finances, we talk it over first before I do anything. In the winter months, when he is home more, we do it together.

"We both are" wasn't one of the options but that's how it is at our house...
DH physically handles getting most of the monthly bills paid, direct deposits money into my account for me to run the house (groceries, clothing, pet items, kids extra curricular activities etc). I'm aware of our monthly bills though - how much we pay in gas, electric, the mtg etc We make investment decisions together. We've just always done it this way.

I reworded the original poll. I was just talking about the everyday stuff - not the big decisions or the investment things. Obviously, 99% of us would make those decisions together, I would hope!

Well...it's still 'both' for us. L.OL! We don't really have a 'budget' per se. I have my own self imposed budget from the money Dh gives me for the week but if I needed more, he'd give me more. I don't know what an "everyday financial decision" would be for us...? I do all my weekly shopping and such from the money Dh gives me...I don't really consider them financial decisions though. Dh pays our monthly utilities and bills like that from his main account. He does it all online. I do all the filing, so I see them all. We are fortunate to not have financial worries...

Yep, still "both" for us, too. I mean, we even discuss things such as, "We are getting low on milk. Is it okay if I use the money from the Food envelope to pick some up after work?" We literally discuss everything - even the daily small things. Will this last forever? I don't know, but that's what we do now.

Wow! Doesn't that get tedious sometimes? Not judging, just curious!

I do everything at my house. Dh doesn't spend much anyway (or so he thinks) so I just give him his weekly allowance and he's happy! He knows if he wants to get somthing and he doesn't have the cash for it then he just has to ask and we'll figure out if he should take out more cash or whatever! (doesn't happen much - occasional mini shopping spree, etc) I do the bills, the budgeting, the paying of the debt etc.
He makes the money - I spend it! (Just the way I like it)

My husband pays the bills online. We started using a few excel spreadsheets that tracks how much money we need for each bill for the coming month. It's really neat. We can tell down to the penny how much money we have in each ledger. I get cash each week for groceries/household and gas money. This way, I hardly ever need to use the checking account. This system has helped us see overall how much debt we have, and where we are for each month. I also like the cash each week so that I dont' feel like my husband is lurking over every penny I spend. It cuts down on fights we used to have about money.
