Today I am going to splurge? Well tonight DH planned a nite out for us, got a sitter and we are having dinner and drinks at a nice restaurant (haven't done this in almost a year since our anniv). Yes, it is an indulgence. Yes, we could probably be more economical about this, but Yes, we deserve it and Yes, we are both in need of a break from the kiddos (who we love dearly!!). I've kept ths kids busy all summer on a shoestring, so I figure hey, this is an investment in US as a couple, and sometimes you just gotta do that!!

Just thought I'd see if anyone shares this thought?!!

You have to splurge every once in a while. Its nice to be able to treat yourselves and think of it as a reward for being so frugal the rest of the time.

I am planning a date night for dh and myself and while it will be costly it will be worth it. We didn't get to go out for Valentines, my birthday or our 1st anniversary because I was so sick (morning sickness) so I am going to give us a weekend before the baby comes. Who knows when we'll be able to do it again.

You bet we do. I agree you have to treat yourself big in exchange for the more often times that you forgo things.

Yep! Its the times like that, that make the times you are skimping even better. One of my favorite splurges is the cheap movie theatre, butgetting a large popcorn and drink. Makes me feel extravagant!!

Hope yall had a grea ttime!

Good for you! Look at it as "saving your sanity" instead of "not saving at all".... You need to get away once in a while.

I'm a firm believer that saving by never having any time with your husband is not such a great idea. DH and I go out twice a year (LOL!) - once for our anniversary and once to his Christmas party for work. We pay for anniversary and the Christmas party is on his company. Occasionally, though, we'll have a date by putting the kids to bed a little earlier than usual and snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie. That "tides us over" 'til the next "date".

Glad you had a great time and that you're feeling refreshed.

Yup! Every once in awhile you just have to splurge! Just an FYI though...my idea of splurge is on a smaller scale (dinner out, DVD's etc) not a vacation house in Honolulu
