I don't remember who suggested doing the Angel Food Ministries thing last month but, GOD BLESS YOU!! You would not believe, actually you might, how much money I save on my grocery bill, I'm guessing about 30% a month or more. Their food is great and the church we went to was filled with the most friendly courteous people. Although the only drawback is $40 in gas we live an hour and a half away, but we are going to split the cost this month w/ my sis (she's doing it too). Anyway, I don't remember your name but THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH. This is one more thing that will help me afford to be a sahm.

I did it last month, too. WOW. The meat alone was WONDERFUL. We didn't do it for August..mostly because it was a lot of chicken, which we have in the freezer already and dh doesn't care for. I didn't want to be spending money on something we wouldn't use! Next month, I will be right back out there. It was SO much help...and I agree...the people just could not have been nicer.

Can your church (or one in your local area) become a host site for the ministry? It costs only $50 and 6-8 workers per distribution day.. pretty easy help to come by if the church congregation pitches in to help. That would definately save you the $40 in gas going to pick your box up, plus if there isn't a site in your area already, then I'm sure there are a lot of people that could benefit from the ministry once one comes along. And, yes, I agree with you -- their food is really good! I've heard from one person that they didn't like the food, but everything we've gotten was really good.. The meat is fantastic. (We love their bacon wrapped pork and beef filets)..

that might be an option if I attended faithfully, but I don't. Yeah, I know I'm bad but I don't think I would feel right suggesting my church be a host site when I don't attend myself.

We love this program too. At first I felt a little funny, since I don't consider us in need. We're not wealthy by many standards, but I don't fear that my kids won't get to eat 3 meals a day or live on the streets. But, the workers are wonderful, so kind and generous and made me not feel bad at all. Loved the specials this month- got the sirloins for DH. He is going to love me when I surprise him with an inexpensive steak dinner!!

My dh and I and my MIL are going to be doing this for the month of Sept. I did have a couple of questions, that I guess I could find out from the church but though I'd ask here first. I wanted to know how the food comes packaged. Like the specials and a lot of the meet, is it in vacuum sealed pkgs or just loose in bags? My MIL lives by herself and didn't know if it would stay good in the freezer for awhile. And also do you contact the church itself to find out about payment? I didn't see anything on there that shows how you go about paying. Thanks for any input!

You gals have got me interested in this now, I just found one about 30 miles away & sent them a message, to see how I go about being a customer.

Do you pick out your own food or is it all picked out for you already?
