I would say that if you can afford it and have the time right now then do it! You never know when your dream job will open up and its good to be ready - especially if you are looking.

I am contemplating a job change too and going through many of these same types of decisions. Good luck to you!

I am confused. Do you want to get "certified" because it will help you with your job search or do you want to do it because it is your dream?
If this is for your job and you are not going to look for another 5 yrs, I would wait. I don't know what profession you are in, but things change all the time and you have no idea what kind of requirements there can be in 5 yrs and your certification might not be "up-to-date"
If this is for your "dream" and you can afford it - go for it.
I also remember you saying something about changing your careers alltogether. So, why would you be considering spending time and money in getting certified in your current field?
