Short term, I save each week all year round towards Christmas. I've been doing this a few years now and it works out really well for me.

Long term, we're saving/investing towards retirement, kids high school and college fees, creating nesteggs for the kids etc

I'm not really saving for anything in particular right now. um let me think....
Well everyone has bills of course and the usual retirement, college, debt, cars etc but for fun stuff:

I do want to replace my monitor with a flat one. That is really all I want right now, i'm not the kind of person who spends much money on me! I'll probably buy one next month, in September we get 3 paychecks cuz we get paid every 2 weeks so a few months a year we get extra, well it's not really extra but it always seems like it and my dh wants his car windows tinted but I am sick of hearing what he needs for his car so I am delaying that one. My dd bday is next month and we are going to the beach but we haven't saved any money for that we are just going to use part of that extra paycheck.

we are about to start saving for a trip to disney we are going to take in two years, after the new year we will set up an account for that. We want to go all out, not be frugal when we go! Our kids will be 2, 4 and 6 then.

We are saving currently for property taxes due in December. (Just a couple more months hopefully!) Then we will be saving to pay income taxes, which hopefully will be not as much as last year. Then maybe, I can save some for a vacation. MIL and SIL are already planning a trip to Texas next summer, but I'm not excited about that. We'll see.

Currently my dh and I are saving for a decent deposit for a house mortgage. Just being able to know what our end goal is has helped so much as dh wanted to get an expensive car, however due to our goal was willing to cut down to a much smaller and cheaper car.

We are saving for the regular things, paying down the mortgage faster, retirement, kid's education fund, and for the next car.

Every month we put $150 into savings account with ING so we can pay cash for a gently used car when we need one. Last time we got a good, two year old car with 29,000 miles (46,000 km) for $11,000. It's so nice not to have car payments every month.
