yanno i was wondering this myself. i am considering doing laundry for extra money. however, i don't want to wear out my machines or hike my energy bill, or it would be self defeating. i also would need to be competative with the laundromats. so i'd love to hear this too.

My husband told me i was thinking like a bag lady. He doesn't want me to work, i feel like my brain just rots during the day while my kids are in school. My old coworkers used to laugh when they would call me and i was making copies in the workroom! I used to work in a govt office making over $17.76 per hour w/o a college degree.
I've kept all my work clothes, i can't part with the ann taylor or cache yet. I don't want to work in an office. I've sold avon for the past year. I'm considering quitting, because i'm tired of tracking down customers for the $$$! (that's why i didn't want to hear anything about that type of business!)
I though about finishing my 2yr degree, i've been 1/2 a$$ing the college credits for the past 10 years. I'm thinking about going to school to become a dietician (great pay, great benefits if you get in w/ a govt agency). BUT none of my old credits will transfer.
I still don't know what i want to be when i grow up! Obviously i'm very confused about what to do with my time. When i was younger i always worked, i was a single mother working 2 pt jobs and attending school f/t. That was almost 10 years ago I'm tired!!!!!!!!

don't worry, it will all work out. thank goodness you aren't in desperate need of the money currently. just try out different things--you'll never know what you truly like until you try is my motto.

my hubby, ha, i wish he was determined to have me stay home but as it goes, he is quite content with me working for now. until our personal situation clears up i'll be the main breadwinner, and well, that sucks booty but i have to take care of my family. i am a SAHM deep down in my heart, doing the 9 to 5 thing really never was me, and it never will be. took me a long time to accept that about myself, but am quite content with it now.

you have time to figure out what you want to do, so just try a few things. perhaps giving the ebay thing a shot will do you good? and you can rack up some pretty big bucks if you research and do it right...

And thats why its So GREAT you found mommysavers! LOL

You have gotten some good advice. And don't forget about the little things you can do to save money daily, its almost like found money sometimes when you save $$ doing other things. For instance, washing in cold water, turning off lights and TVs, ect will save $$ on your electric bill. For the used clothes, don't forget about consigning or ebay, that will help with your clothing budgets. Use coupons to save on your grocery bills. It will work out!

If you are looking for an actual job outside the home, you might try retail merchandising. Before we moved I worked for a greeting card company and maintained their displays in different retail stores. Basically I set my own hours - they gave me a budget and I picked the days and times I worked. During the school year I worked days and over the summer I worked evenings while my husband was home with the kids. It was great because if one of my kids woke up sick I could stay home and make up the time the next day. Greeting cards can be tough because there are mandatory days (due to holidays) but a friend of mine worked for a cosmetics company doing the same thing and she had the same set up I did. As long as you are up front during the interview about wanting to work around a school schedule you should be a good candidate. I only had one account that would not allow merchandising in the evenings, so my boss just found another merchandiser to pick up that account over the summer.

Can't believe my luck.
I was outside this morning watering my yard and a lady pulled up in a suv. Seems she's been driving around the neighborhood leaving small notices to people she sees outside on her way to the office. Her & her husband have a ShapeWorks business. I offered to do door to door flyer distribution. She wants me to call her with my prices. I DON"T HAVE A CLUE on how much to charge. But she seemed VERY excited!

Getting a job within your childrens school district is one of the best ideas i have heard too. That is what I did. I just got hired last week to work about 3-3 1/2 hours per day at the high school in the cafeteria. Well today, I get a call from my new boss and she wants me to work more in the office learning about the day to day business. So now, I dont have to be scrubbing dishes or cleaning tables. The gal that will be training me is quite old-over 70!!!! So the boss wants someone else to start learning her job, just in case. So i havent even started yet (school starts Aug.22) and I have already got a promotion.
I also tried the AVON. It was more work than it is worth, for me anyways. I think I was my best customer. I am going to stop selling but stay active just for myself so i can get my stuff i always order at a discount still.
good luck!

You could do private sitting jobs with the elderly. Post add in newspaper or ask around at church. Some people need elder care but don't know where to look. I like ebay selling but I am like you I don't want to do direct sales such as avon or those parties cause I am not really a leader type. You could always check into demonstrator jobs passing out samples
My ma did it. I don't know how she got started though. You could check by manufactured homes sales places and see if they'll let you clean their homes regularly.Look up
(MyMommyBizIdeaCentral) I think that's the one with tons of ideas!Good luck!

Your flier offer reminded me that my friend often stuffs envelopes for her dad who is a real estate agent. Apparently, it is worth it to the company to have someone be paid for doing this. You might want to check that option too!

Now, I'll admit that I have been reading quickly and may have missed something, but it sounds like you want to work because you're bored, not really because you need money. If I read that right, would you consider volunteering? At my DS's school, there are never enough volunteers! I volunteer at quite a few places -- historical society museum, PTS, school, library, etc. Would that help you?
