Here's another hypothetical question to play around with. Let's say that you had an offer to increase your family's income by 50% each year. The major breadwinner will have to travel one weekend each month in addition to the current workload and be gone from Friday evening until Sunday night. The other three weekends of the month are family time. What would you do: sacrifice the time for the extra money?

Yes, we'd probably do that, my husband is gone more than that already.

Having had dh work retail hours for the past 15 years, minus this last one, I would say we could definitely do it. When he worked in stores, he worked 2 week nights & every third weekend. Once he became an area mgr, he was on the road 3-5 days every week. So, yes, I think I could swing it!

We would do it in an instance!!! Then I would not be working for a heck of a lot less than that on the weekends!

For that much more? Yes, if he was willing to. The additional money would help us enjoy the other weekends more - be able to do more together and even hire help to do the chores that would normally be using up weekend time.

We would do it. It would allow me to be a true SAHM

although at this point my kiddos would miss our crew but once they left I would not have to take on any new ones!

One weekend a month is totally fine...especially for such a large increase in pay. Plus, it usually means that the individual has a couple days off during the week and we could then have family time at places when it is less busy! (the zoo, etc.)
