So my husband usually does our taxes ... problem is I don't even let my husband touch the checkbook and we both agreed that he shouldn't do the taxes either! I on the other hand know nothing about taxes. That said does anyone know any good books or sites that would help educate me on basic taxes done in the U.S.? We have nothing special (in the eyes of the tax man, all of them are very special to me) - just a house and two kids

Go to the irs.gov website and search for a free link to the software providers who will let you use their programs FREE to calculate your taxes. That's what I do. Even though we don't qualify for free e-filing, we can still use the software and file paper copies for free.

Do you file quarterly? If so, you have other questions you may want to ask.

Since your husband has been doing the taxes, you may have him check over your work before you file next year. Also, when you file, you'll have to refer back to your last year's taxes anyway. Pretty much all the spaces that were filled in last year should be filled in again this year.
