Is it a new car, a pedicure, what? Everybody has a different definition.

A luxury, to me, is something I wouldn't just go buy on a whim....like a boat. DH really wants one, and when we can afford one, we'll get one, hence, the luxury. But, if we're pulling our hair out trying to figure out what to do for dinner, and all of a sudden go to a nice restaurant, we can afford that, not necessarily a luxury....it's all relative to what you can afford I guess. I'm interested in seeing how everyone else answers this!!!

To us, a luxury is anything we do not classify as a NEED whether we can afford it or not. A nice dinner out, a pedicure, even a soda in a vending machine. If it is something that we would like but don't need, its a luxury in my book. Does that make sense??

Hummmm...there are many ways to interpret this....
I will say a Hot Tub, for a big item. (I know what you are thinking why do I want a Hot Tub in Florida....I don't know I just do. )
But I also consider a day at the Spa a luxury also....that sounds nice!! Massage, pedicure, hair cut and style!!

Yup, that's us, too. New shirt, a bottle of wine, a day trip.... that's all luxury right now.

I totally agree. anything that is not needed to keep the house running is a luxury right now.
my husband feels special when I come home with real Pepsi and not store brand soda!!!!

A massage or a hottub. I could really use a massage sometimes but I have such a hard time scheduling one because it seems like such a HUGE indulgence. And hubby and I are at the age where a hottub would be so nice. We've talked forever about getting one but haven't. Again, there seems like so many other things to buy first.

I would consider a pedicure a luxury. Anything that isn't on the "need" list... eating out, vacations, etc.
