Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix In A Jar
A gift of love from your own kitchen.
Estimated Times:
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 9 mins
Servings: 0
Ingredients
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 (9 ounces) cups NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Directions
COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Place flour mixture in 1-quart jar. Layer remaining ingredients in order listed above, pressing firmly after each layer. Seal with lid and decorate with fabric and ribbon.

RECIPE TO ATTACH:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F. Beat 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) softened butter or margarine, 1 large egg and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until blended. Add cookie mix and 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional); mix well, breaking up any clumps. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

KayleezMom - I have a whole bunch of those types of receipes! They are called "gifts in a jar". Let me know what you like and I can post some of them in the receipe section for you, or scan them in and email them to you!

Can you be a little more specific on the pom-pom instructions. I have a niece who would love to have one of those.

When I process on the stove I bring a large pot with enough water to cover the jars to a boil, put the jars in and boil for 10 mins. After 10 mins you take them out of the water and sit them on your counter. You should start to hear them "pop", which is good. If after they cool they don't pop re-boil them. After they pop they can be stored in a pantry indefianately, though the apple butter doesn't last long around here!!

I am doing several things:

-knitted dishclothes (I have done these in the past and have had several requests for this year)
-homemade pear preserves and apple butter (I get the pears and apples from Freecycle)
_homemade peach salsa
_pitty packs (bags using scrap cloth from my grandmother and filled with cherry pits to be used as a heating pad or can be frozen to use as a cold compress
- I had planned on doing this but didn't get them planted this year, growing loofah sponges and drying them. I was going to put them in a basket with bath salts.

I have a couple more ideas but I just can't think right now.

I love this thread!! Keep them coming ladies. I am making notes for next year too.

I've bought some large 3 wick candles from wal-mart and some medium paint and stencils from Michael's to monogram my family members initials on them. They total about $6 a piece and specialty shops around here sell them for $30.

How do you grow loofah sponges? I do bath baskets for my 2 sisters and 2 SIL every year and am always looking for different things to put in them that I can make on my own.
