My DH & I used some of our tax refund to pay off our credit card. It makes me feel so good to see that balance at 0. Now we are slowing working towards paying off my car and hoping to buy our first house someday.

Last year I got the free credit report for dh and myself. Well, a year has passed and I got the new free credit report and on ever report about 10 pages came off. I have been working all year hounding the insurance companies to pay the bills on the credit report and they have. I also paid little bills off that should have been paid off years ago but they seemed to be to overwhelming for me at the time. I am happy I did these things last year since we had the extra money. At this time I only have 4 things to take off but I am waiting on the insurance companies.

Last Friday I paid off my CC debt in full. We said this last November that we were not going to charge. Made it a new years resolution and in the end paid off 15% of our debt in 6 months. I have the total confidence that we would continue only we decided now was a good time to buy a new house so we sold our home and used the profits to pay off the rest of the debt. We had to pay off the debt to get our new mortgage. Still its been a week without 8K in Debt hanging over us. As a bonus we also have 3K in savings.
It was kind of an easy way of getting rid of the CC debt but gone is gone

After reading Dave Ramsey's book, "The Total Money Makeover", my husband and I have been working hard to become debt-free. We paid off a second mortgage on our house with our tax return in March. We started our frugal lifestyle at the beginning of the year, and with the money we are saving we are working to pay off our mortgage. We have a five year plan and the good Lord willing we will be completely debt-free.

The plan is the hard part. Now that you have that, you're on the right track! Way to go!

Paying off our last remaining credit card by paying $50 extra a month and paying the balance off with our income tax return. It won't make us debt free, but we will be one step closer
