well ive been to the grocery store and to target for DIAPERS ONLY but thats it! like this morning (sunday) my hub took my 3yr daughter fishing. so im sitting here and normally i would scoop up the baby and go walk around target or walmart to kill time and buy stuff i dont need. nope!

i am amazed when i look at my online bank statements now - i use to view them and there was line after line of small amounts of spending (gas station goodies, target, walmart, needless trips to grocery store, blockbuster, lib late fees, ac moore) and my statement was like 2 pages long for like 2 weeks.

now, when i look at it, on the same page is my gas fill up from friday, my diaper run to target last week and my last gas run on aug 16th! wow!

we're not livin' large yet - we're still in the "shock and awe" part of aggressively paying down credit...but i feel good not having target clearance crap all over the house not doing anything.

you know what happy mom? the target clearance stuff is just annoyance for me now. yes its great for holiday stuff - i cant argue with that - but i really see now that the end cap stuff that is always there - and stuff i fall for - is just clutter in my home. and its never used. i used to use the rationale in the store "well this is 75% off! im sure i can use this at home!" and i'd take it home and it would sit. worse yet, i'd lose the receipt and then i was stuck with it until i sold it in a garage sale for like .50!

so im "over it" and you know what, this was the first holiday season (halloween, xmas, easter) where i walked around and said "i have enough of this stuff" i mean, when you have your max of easter grass, plastic eggs, baskets, fake pumpkins, stockings, lights, etc...then it gets to be too much.

i EVEN have stopped garage saleing every week! now i go like 1x a month and make sure i hit a neighborhood sale so i save gas and hit like 40 sales in one shot.

Hi! My name is Barbara and I am a Target addict too.

My new years resolution was not to go to Target until april 1. I made it to March 1. Every time I go to buy one thing, I spend the magical $80 that just appeared in my cart.

I am doing well saving my other wise Target money.

First-like you, I try not to go.

Two-I am thinking of micro-itemizing all my purchases especially to punish myself for target purchases in quicken. it will really suck to see how much I spent on the DVD of the week or bathroom accessories.

Three-if I really really need to go, I make a daily list and go when I need to. lots of times, I cross the thing off the list by the time I get there anyway.

Good for you- I always look at that clearance stuff in Target/Walmart and think- this is stuff that nobody wanted not even the store- that they are almost giving it away

I bet you really do not miss going in those stores to look and buy- you think you do and then when you do not go for awhile- you start to think what is so special that I came in here all the time. At least that how it is for me.

It sounds like you are making huge progress towards eliminating your shopping addiction.

My problem is grocery shopping. I love food - and not the cheap food either, but the expensive stuff! To help keep the spending in check, I have starting using cash only. It makes me think twice before buying something not on my list.
