What envelopes do you have?

I pay for all my bills online and I use a credit card for gas (I refuse to go in to pay with cash with 3 kids).

I need an envelope for groceries, one for spending money... what else??

Clothing, entertainment, etc I thought of just adding to the budget when needed - we really don't spend a lot there... What other envelopes do you all have???

I don't use the envelope system but I've heard many people talk about it. I know that a lot of people make up envelopes for yearly bills like home/car insurance and car plate renewals, things like that, that you may not think of because they only come once a year. They would break down that number (divided by 12 months or by weeks) into the necessary total payments to the envelopes and then have the money saved when the bill comes up. Some day I hope to be able to do that too. Hope this helps!

We have envelopes for the following

groceries
eating out
entertainment
diapers (both kids in diapers)
haircuts
clothing
miscellaneous (or blow money)

we don't use cash for gas either - pay at the pump. Our budget puts in $5 for entertainment. That way it is there when it is needed - we don't have to use it each month - same for clothing and haircuts.

We save for yearly expenses (insurance, Home owners association etc) separate and into a bank savings account. Once that savings account hits a certain number dh then takes a lump sum and puts it into an ING account - it is getting more interest than the bank.

I normally pull out $180 every two weeks (payday) then I put them in a seperate envelope.

$80 Groceries
$50 Gas (if we use the van) if the not DH will only spend $25 out of $50
$50 for Entertainment (going out to eat, movies, etc..)
