Who has disability insurance? This would be for any catastrophic injury that does not result in death - by the definition I looked up.

Do you think it is important?

DH has both short term and long term disability. I don't have it, but I really should. We both have life insurance.

I think it is just as important as having life or health insurance.

Thanks for the kick in the butt! I really need to call and get some quotes on the disability for myself.

I sell insurance for State Farm & yes, DH & I both have it. 3 years ago I had shoulder surgery & had to use it. Thank goodness I had it. I was off work for 2 months healing.

We have it.
I have used it once - after my breast reduction surgery. I was not allowed to work for 6 weeks
DH has used it once - he ran into a team of Amish Horses that were running loose on the road. He almost died - he was in the hosp for 3 months and then recoup'ed at home for 2 months.

A major disability is more likely to cause disasterous financial hardship for a family than the death of the wage earner - and it is more likely to happen.

Yes, we have disability insurance. Because I don't work, technically, I can't be disabled so I don't have any.

I have no other insurance, including health right now, but today an offer come in the mail from gerber life insurance, for accidental death and dismemberment. So I decided to sign up for a policy.

My dh has disability inc. We would be lost if he didn't have it and got injured since I am not working. I think it is really important. My FIL is using his right now since he was diagnosed with cancer this past spring. I really could not imagine not takeing it if offered to you. It really isn't that much more a month if you think about it if something was to happen.

We don't have any insurance other than what is on our mortgage and loan. We really need to get our butts moving and get on that one!

DH and I both have short, long, and life. You never know when/if you will ever need it. But mine covers quite a bit of my salary if needed. I'm comfortable with it.
