Not on the list but my city was recently voted the world's most intelligent community for 2007. Google that and you'll know where I live.

not where i live now, but where i was born and raised is #10 (morris county nj)

but i knew that anyway....i dont understand how my classmates who have remained can afford houses there....the same 4bed 2.5 bath colonial house thats 280-300k here (and new construction) is like 600k + there...and you get like a 30yr old house!

i wouldnt move back though.

WOW!! To my surprise we made the list AND my husband earns more than the amount listed, so that is a good feeling. We are number 85, but hey we made it. We are also low for cost of living so economically I guess our county is doing ok :D

I am in Morris County NJ, so it was in the top 10 on all three lists, dont know if that is good or bad!
We get paid more, but we also pay a lot for it!

That's the rub. Look at the list and see the gross salaries, but you also have to look at the cost of living - cost of housing, gas, electricity, taxes... so, just because the salary is higher doesn't actually mean you get a great deal by living there.

Oh, and of course my county isn't on the list (we have 12,000 people and 36,000 cows in our county). But I lived in Falls Church, VA for a number of years, and they are #3 on the list. And I can tell you from personal experience - anyplace in NOVA is an expensive place to live. So although you get paid more, you don't have any more change in your pocket at the end of the day - most of the time, you have less.

I had read somewhere a few years ago that our county was in the top 10 in the country. Very confused by these numbers.
